Armottoman kuvankäsittelymaratonin, kroaatin- ja suomenkielisten käännösten ja sähläyksen jälkeen kortti tuli lopulta valmiiksi. Tässä on lopputulos, tadaa!

Sister Libraries -päivän koordinoijien alkuperäinen ajatus oli, että kirjastot lähettävät kortit ilmapallojen mukana maailmalle, mistä ihmiset sitten löytävät niitä kun pallot putoavat. Ilmapallojen lähettely luontoon on kuitenkin Kroatian ympäristösäännöksissä kielletty, enkä usko että sitä Suomessakaan hyvällä katsottaisiin (lainsäädännöstä en tiedä, mutta roskaamista en kannata missään tapauksessa). Niinpä sekä Koprivnicassa että Sastamalassa tyydymme jakamaan kortteja asiakkaille kirjastolla. Ja toivotamme kaikille hyvää sisarkirjastopäivää!
Nyt viikonloppuna onkin edessä ensimmäinen retkeni Koprivnican ulkopuolelle. Tarkoituksena päätyä Zagrebin kautta Plitvicen järville ja takaisin. Katsotaan, miten amatööriseikkailijan käy!

ENGLISH VERSION
Today, Friday 13th of September, we're celebrating NAPLE Sister Libraries Day. The Sister Libraries organisation asked us all to design a postcard and celebrate the day with the theme "Reading is Fashionable". Since I'm now here in our sister library, we decided to make a common postcard for Koprivnica and Sastamala libraries. Making the card was quite a long process that required extreme methods - for instance the book-throwing that I talked about in an earlier post. Last week me and some colleagues sneaked to the backyard of the library with some old books, removed from the library collection. Then the books started flying!
In the beginning we had some problems (try finding the book in the first picture, it is there. In the second one my camera missed the target because I was too busy screaming and running away from a book flying straight towards me), but after a couple of tries it started to go more smoothly. After some serious photoshopping, translating into Croatian and English, and other messing about, we finally finished the card. And here it is!
The original idea of the Sister Libraries coordinators was that the libraries tie the postcards into balloons, and send them flying from the library for people to find, after the balloons fall down. However, the Croatian environmental laws prohibit sending balloons into nature, and I don't think it's correct in Finland either (don't know about legislation, but it's not a good idea to send plastic flying around anyway). Thus the cards will simply be handed out to patrons in the libraries at Koprivnica and Sastamala. And we wish everyone a happy Sister Libraries day!
As for future plans, I'm making my first expedition outside Koprivnica this weekend. My goal is to go via Zagreb to Plitvička jezera. We'll see how it goes!
